KYLIE – THE EXHIBITION Focusing on the evolving image of Kylie Minogue, this exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum had everyone spinning around. It featured many of the diminutive diva’s performance costumes, accessories, album covers and photographs, set against a backdrop of music and video. The exhibition charted Kylie’s continually changing image, from 1988 onwards, starting with the overalls she wore as ‘girl next door’ Charlene in Neighbours before going on to become an international pop sensation known the world over simply as Kylie. Kylie is one of the most photographed people on the planet and Leach Colour was able to undertake colour management of a wide range of origination from around the world and deliver consistent colour reproduction across a range of graphic media. Working closely with lead designers, Event Communications throughout the project, Leach reproduced and installed some of the most stunning images for use in the exhibition. These included installing a combination of foamex mounted lambda prints, backlit duratrans, double sided fabric banners, large format graphic wallpaper and vinyl texts applied direct to gallery walls. Victoria Broackes, head of exhibitions and design at the V&A Theatremuseum, was delighted with the results and complemented Leach on the quality of their work and the professionalism of the project management and installation team. The Kylie Minogue Collection contains over 600 costumes and accessories, many created by the world’s leading fashion designers, including the infamous gold lamé hotpants worn in the video for Spinning Around and the white hooded jumpsuit featured in the Can’t Get You Out of My Head video – oh Kylie as if we could ever forget! |
